Bee Package Pick Up Details
Greetings, fellow beekeeper!! Below are details on your bee packages and how to plan for pickup! Those details are below.
Thank you very much for your order, and for your interest in keeping bees in the Pacific Northwest. This year is especially important to maintain healthy levels of bees.
PLEASE READ
If you have not done so, please email us with your preferred time to pick up your bees. We have not heard from some folks and want to be sure we are being safe.
COVID-19:
Because of the unusual circumstances of pickup this year, we will be scheduling your pickup time. This is to reduce the number of people picking up at the same time. We will absolutely work with you to accommodate your schedule, so please do not worry.
We will be maintaining a proper distance and request that when you arrive, you wait in the designated area. We will bring your package(s) to you. Sorry we can't shake hands or chat, but are happy to address any questions via email or phone!
PICKUP OF YOUR BEES:
Your bees will be available for pickup on between 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM at our location in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle on the scheduled pickup day. (Special arrangements can be made if you are unable to pickup during this time, but we ask that you contact us as soon as possible so we can be sure to schedule you.)

HOLDING PACKAGES / ABANDONMENT:
If you are unable to make it to us on the scheduled pickup day, please let us know immediately. We will not hold packages beyond one day past the pickup day unless you contact us to re-schedule. All abandoned packages will be installed into a hive.
We would prefer not to do this, so please inform us if you are unable to make it during the scheduled pickup times. We are very happy to help.
SPECIAL PICKUP / ALTERNATE TIME:
If you cannot make it during the scheduled pickup day, we can install your bees into a temporary cardboard nucleus hive and frames for you to pickup on another day. There will be a $40 fully refundable deposit requested that will be credited on return of the nucleus hive, or you can simply keep the box and frames for your use.
NUCLEUS PACKAGE PICKUP
If you ordered a nucleus (nuc) colony, these will be ready the week of the 20th due to delays around Covid-19. Fear not, we will be arranging delivery of nucleus colonies, so you don't have to come twice if you ordered a package as well! Please contact us regarding delivery.
INSTALLING YOUR BEES:
If you have not installed bees before, we have linked to a YouTube video of the procedure called a "shake method" that we have found to work well. The process described has similar packages to what yours will be but do not get distracted if it looks slightly different. The procedure is essentially the same. Please note this is NOT our video and we do not own content.
QUESTIONS, ISSUES:
We will be doing everything possible to deliver you your bees in excellent condition. Each package will be inspected for a living queen before delivery.
If you have an issue during your install or if you have concerns, we ask that you contact us immediately so we can discuss resolution. Our number one goal is for you to enjoy your bees and will do what we can to ensure this.
Please note that we will not be treating for varroa mites prior to delivery.
